From BSJ: South Africa to legalize gay marriage

Black Star Journal: South Africa to legalize gay marriage
At the risk of being seen as anti-thetical, and heretic by many Africans, I am going to say this: It is about time that Africa be at the forefront of the fight for social justice, and be a pioneer, as they are supposed to be. This is the motherland of humanity, Africa, and we should be leading by example. Now we have the first female head of state in Liberia, H.E Ms. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and full recognition of Gay rights in South Africa - at least on paper. These situations have come about despite the existence of widespread opposition, and despite a lot of prejudice, and taboos.

I am proud of Ms. Johnson-Sirleaf's achievement. Now she has to show us, and the world, what she can do as a leader. As for gay-marriage, I think that it is long overdue for us straight people to get over ourselves, and respect the right for gay people to live a decent life. They are humans just like us, they have needs just like us, and they are not in any way more wicked than we are. I say it again: It's about time!

You may have a point here. Why should anyone care what adults do.
