Call for Africa-wide G8 debt deal

African leaders have used a Nigeria summit meeting to call for debt relief to cover all of Africa, ahead of the G8 summit in Gleneagles.

Shouldn't these guys be trying to pitch a continent-wide debt relief deal to the World Bank and the IMF? What about the guarantees for good governance and transparency in government and business dealings? What about all of the stolen money over the past several decades and the rampant exploitation of natural resources and human lives?

It would be interesting to read the various opinions of people (who understand the issues) living under certain repressive regimes in Africa (and elsewhere) address this proposal by Obansajo & Co.
