Ex-Hutu rebels win Burundi poll

Ex-Hutu rebels win Burundi poll

Burundi's former Hutu rebel group, the FDD, wins a parliamentary majority in Monday's elections.

No big surprise there. Although I was expecting the Frodebu to get a better result. Burundi may be on the one right path that can put a rest to the ethnic issues that the Great Lakes inherited from colonialism. Congratulations for a spotless process - within the local context. I wish the leaders and politicians in Congo could reach such a level of political maturity and realism.
