I personally get rather nervous when peopel say things like "In the name of the fath, the son, and the PPRD." (or any other political party. the "Kabila Boys" seem to be a cause for concern too. Despite that he could make it work but his perception as a foreigner is going to hurt him and could lead to further insurections in the future.
